Other day at the fall Festival/ otro dia en el Festival de otono

Gringo Picture of the Day

I really like this picture

Who said tha my Mom does not like cats??? quien dijo que a mi mama no le gustan los gatos?

Well is day 6 and my Mom's fear with the cats are going away, for sure just thinking that she will be around two cats for three months was hard for her, at the begining Jasper was very playful and wants to be on Abuela's bed, I dont know how my mom liked that, Don Gato in other hand was more interested to be close to her, after couple days we can see them enjoying her the same like us. ( the question still is she enjoying them too? ). ok I got this nice picture........

Bandeja paisa estilo Martica

Colombian Christmas in October

The evening of the first night was very surreal... I had to keep reminding myself that Martica was in the house. After we got the super tired and funny Miarose (you know how a child acts hours after they are supposed to be asleep)to bed there was not time for conversation. I found myself amazed and speechless in a few moments...

Here are the newest additions to Miarose's collection: Anna and Rover...she received them from her Aunt Lili and Uncle Walter. Both have been on her bed ever since...in fact Anna was eating breakfast with her this morning.

Where does the speechlessness and amazement come in you may ask? Well, one of the things that made me love my wife so much is the size of her heart----even though we laugh and say it is a chicken heart. But the heart of all the people that Lina has known flowed out in our livingroom that evening. I could not believe what I was seeing. People brought letters and gifts for Martica to bring for Lina and her family. Words can not explain the love that Martica brought in her suitcases....

Here is a beautiful table cloth that will be part of our family forever...

You can tell by the smiles on Lina's face just what is going through her heart and mind.

DIM...when it comes to Lina there is nothing else to say....

And of course...with all of the smiles came tears of joy as Lina read letter after letter after letter from friends and family. I do have to say that Aunt Lili wrote Miarose the nicest letter in English, I was so impressed....

..and I can guarantee that one Gringo is going to spend hours upon hours in this hammock.

What an emotional day it was. Clearly one that will be in my heart forever.... I am honored to be part of Colombia....(and a DIM fan to boot).

Nope...not going to comment on this one either....

Mom first day

Wonderful to see my mom so happy and comfortable with our American family, its a challenge for her and Matt and Mia, the language is not an issue when is love, but still Martis wants to say a lot of things to them, hopefully in couple of weeks they will be able to share some more conversations.

My mom is amazed with this country, of course is a new world for her. We took her to the beach and she loved it.

what a happiness!

This does not even need a caption
But I will say that it is one of the greatest days of my life to see my wife so happy

Gringo Update : The Arrival

Well the much anticipated day has arrived...well yesterday. We spent a long day on the road, to and from Miami. Waking at the crack of dawn after a sleepless night, filled with joy and anticipation, we set out for the airport.

..as you see Miarose and Lina were in the mood to make silly faces. I guess this was their way of relieving some of the nerves. The journey was a good and smooth one, always a joy to try and spot gators on Alligator Alley.

When we arrived at the airport we of course had to figure out where and when Martica ...Mia was more than helpful in doing that.

But...the worst was yet to come. It really wasn't "the worst", but the waiting seemed endless...even though it was only a little over an hour. The anticipation was something else. Did I mention that the Miami airport might just be one of the coldest (temperature and atmosphere) places I have ever been to.

The waiting wasn't really that bad when you have company like this. Miarose spent her time running back and forth and jumping over the benches. Lina spent her time ringing her hands and trying to mentally change time, so her mother would arrive sooner. Abuela Numero Gringa, (that is my Mom) took the time to soak everything in.

Time seemed to stretch....especially when we looked down the walkway for the International flight arrivals...

I personally can not imagine what feelings and emotions were going through the Lovely Lina. There is no way that I would ever know how it feels to be away from my Mom for almost 10 years. I am sure, after watching my wife at the airport, the two hours waiting may have seemed just as long as those ten years.

AND THE MOMENT WE HAVE ALL BEEN WAITING FOR!!!!!!!!!!

WELCOME TO AMERICA!!!!!!
