Colombian Christmas in October

The evening of the first night was very surreal... I had to keep reminding myself that Martica was in the house. After we got the super tired and funny Miarose (you know how a child acts hours after they are supposed to be asleep)to bed there was not time for conversation. I found myself amazed and speechless in a few moments...

Here are the newest additions to Miarose's collection: Anna and Rover...she received them from her Aunt Lili and Uncle Walter. Both have been on her bed ever since...in fact Anna was eating breakfast with her this morning.

Where does the speechlessness and amazement come in you may ask? Well, one of the things that made me love my wife so much is the size of her heart----even though we laugh and say it is a chicken heart. But the heart of all the people that Lina has known flowed out in our livingroom that evening. I could not believe what I was seeing. People brought letters and gifts for Martica to bring for Lina and her family. Words can not explain the love that Martica brought in her suitcases....

Here is a beautiful table cloth that will be part of our family forever...

You can tell by the smiles on Lina's face just what is going through her heart and mind.

DIM...when it comes to Lina there is nothing else to say....

And of course...with all of the smiles came tears of joy as Lina read letter after letter after letter from friends and family. I do have to say that Aunt Lili wrote Miarose the nicest letter in English, I was so impressed....

..and I can guarantee that one Gringo is going to spend hours upon hours in this hammock.

What an emotional day it was. Clearly one that will be in my heart forever.... I am honored to be part of Colombia....(and a DIM fan to boot).
